Steamboat I

The other day, JRB and I took the pooches to Steamboat Springs for the day just to do a little exploring. Steamboat is a really cute, main street-centered ski town with hot springs and river flowing through it, which people tube on during the summer.

A lot of the architecture downtown is Victorian with cute, craftsman-style homes mixed in.

After letting the pups explore some of the river,

we headed downtown to check out some of the shops. Most of them have a very Western feel. One of the most popular shops is called FM Light and Sons.

The store has been in Steamboat since 1905 when F.M. Light moved his family from Ohio out west via stagecoach. Today it's still family-owned and has a wonderful assortment of western style clothing.

 Including my favorite boots-Frye,

and some more eclectic styles. . .

Down the street is a great, vintage western store called Calamity Pass Trading Co. They have more boots, belt buckles, flowery dresses and more vintage items.

Posting this picture makes me wish I had bought the horse belt buckle shown above!
The next part of our day was definitely the most exciting for JRB-more to come next time!
Best, MCM
